Joe faces his biggest night in world title showdown

September 27, 2023

A world title will be on the line when Joe Craven takes on Michael Wakeling in a mouthwatering capital clash. It doesn’t get much bigger than this!

The highest-profile domestic fight in many years pits legendary four-time world champ Wakeling against UK number one middleweight Craven at London’s O2 arena on November 18, with hundreds of Joe’s loyal fans expected to travel down from Leeds for the Combat Fight Series clash.

Legendary opponent

Both Craven and Wakeling chalked up big stoppage wins in their last contests, and fans are eagerly anticipating a fight which sees the UK number one ranking and the ISKA middleweight world title up for grabs.

Joe knocked out Carlos De Celis for a hard-fought win at Hitman Fight League 10, while Wakeling recorded a TKO against Alex Fernandez to claim the vacant ISKA strap at York Hall - his first world title victory for eight years.

Widely regarded as the best British Muay Thai and kickboxing fighter of his generation, Kent-based Wakeling is a champion that Craven looked up to when he was learning his craft.

Now recognised in his own right as one of the most exciting fighters in the UK, Joe said:  “He’s a pioneer - he was always seen as top boy when I was coming up.

“I’m fighting a UK legend, with my number one spot and ISKA world title both up for grabs!

“This is a huge fight so every bit of support is massively appreciated.”
